Cochlear Implant Evaluations and Mapping (adults)
Cochlear implants are used to treat severe to profound sensorineural hearing loss, when hearing aids don’t provide enough assistance. Since cochlear implants are surgically implanted, the evaluation and follow-up process takes a little longer, compared to hearing aids. Cochlear implant candidacy is regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Cochlear implants have two separate parts: an external device, which contains a microphone, computer/speech processor, transmitter, and (rechargeable) battery pack and an internal device, which contains a receiver and electrode array.
Designer Audiology works all three cochlear implant companies.
Bone Anchored Hearing Device (BAHD) Evaluations and Programming (adults)
Designer Audiology works with the Cochlear BAHD System.
